Srinagar, Feb 11 (KNO): Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo (IAS), on Wednesday said the district administration, in coordination with Srinagar Police and allied departments, has revoked around 70 driving licences linked to narcotics cases as part of intensified measures to curb drug trafficking in the district. “By coordinating with District Police Srinagar and all our allied departments, especially the Transport Department, a decision has been taken in the District Level Committee that whatever is found in any NDPS case, or will be found, its driving licences will be legally revoked and disqualified,” the DC said while speaking with reporters on the sidelines of a function at Kashmir Haat. The DC, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that nearly 70 driving licences have already been revoked under this process, and more cases are under scrutiny. “This action will act as an additional deterrent. Please do not get involved in drug peddling,” he said. Labroo said the administration, in coordination with the police, health teams and all departments, is implementing “very strict measures” under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) framework to ensure zero tolerance against drugs—(KNO)
